Concerto Gospel Inaugurazione Largo Cavalieri di Colombo

Today is a day dedicated to the Knights of Columbus. This morning the City of Rome dedicated a Largo to them that will soon take on a new architecture, where all those who identify themselves with the values of the Knights of Columbus will be reflected. I thank the St. Thomas More Choir and its Director for accepting to come and bring their voices to a Roman basilica to celebrate this profound friendship. A friendship that has common roots and Catholic Christian values.

The Knights of Columbus were among those who have helped to highlight Italian actions in the world, they have defended Rome from hard times during World War II, they have also been close to our youth by building important sports centers and today they are helping us in bringing Roman Art in the world, through the “Dream of Rome” project in the United States and other countries.

Prof. Carl Anderson has accepted to be our ambassador to promote the 2020 Olympics in Rome.
We want to give this recognition to the Knights of Columbus because this friendship is a deep friendship, which has passed through history.

This choir from Washington is a tribute to remind us that our city was twinned with Washington last summer, finding common points of understanding and deep collaboration between the two great capitals.

We believe that Rome, that has its roots in Catholic culture, must find in this friendship a chance not only to enhance itself, but also to exploit the deep values of the human person. Because these values are those upon which we should wager, now that the global financial crisis is putting us all to the test. We believe that this crisis will be defeated when these values return to be centered in the world. If there has been a crisis, it is because other values have predominated, but when we return to believe in the true values, every crisis will be defeated!.
